An idiom is a type of phrase or expression that has a meaning that can't be deciphered by defining the individual words.


Idiom:
ferret out (something) from (someone) or ferret (information or something) out of (someone)

Meaning:
to get something from someone by being persistent

Example:
I tried hard to ferret out the time of the party from my friend.
