An idiom is a type of phrase or expression that has a meaning that can't be deciphered by defining the individual words.
Idiom:
break up (something) or break (something) up
Meaning:
to separate, to divide into groups or pieces, to put an end to something
Example:
Nobody wanted to break up their groups. We usually break up into small groups during our class.
