An idiom is a type of phrase or expression that has a meaning that can't be deciphered by defining the individual words.


Idiom:
in and of itself

Meaning:
considering one thing alone

Example:
In and of itself there is no problem having a large number of people at the dinner. However, the fire regulations do not allow that many people to be in the building
