Idioms
Idioms are phrases which cannot be understood simply by looking at the meaning of the individual words in the phrase.
Idiom:
in custody of (someone or something)
Meaning:
being looked after by someone or something, under guard by someone
Example:
The child was placed in custody of the state while her mother got treatment for her alcohol problem.
