An idiom is defined as - a group of words in a fixed order that has a particular meaning that is different from the meanings of each word on its own.

to remain calm, to keep from losing one`s temper or becoming too impatient
Example:
"Try and keep your shirt on! Everything will be fine in a few minutes."
