A group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.


Idiom:
knock (someone) off his or her feet

Meaning:
to surprise or shock someone so much that he does not know what to do

Example:
When they announced that I had won the prize it knocked me off my feet.
