An idiom is a group of words, or in other words, a phrase that has a meaning other than its literal meaning of the words in it.


Idiom:
paint oneself into a corner

Meaning:
to get into a bad situation that is difficult or impossible to get out of

Example:
My friend has painted himself into a corner now that he has begun to fight with his supervisor.
