An idiom is a group of words, or in other words, a phrase that has a meaning different from the literal meaning of the words in it.


Idiom:
rub elbows/shoulders with (someone)

Meaning:
to be in the same place as other people, to meet and mix with other people

Example:
At the party we were able to rub shoulders with many important people.
