An idiom is a group of words, or in other words, a phrase that has a meaning different from the literal meaning of the words in it.

Meaning:
to experience something, to encounter or meet something

Example:
I ran into trouble when I tried to cross the border with no visa. I ran into several facts about dinosaurs last night.
