An idiom is a group of words, or in other words, a phrase that has a meaning different from the literal meaning of the words in it.
Idiom:
scrape the bottom of the barrel
Meaning:
to take whatever is left after the best has been taken
Example:
The company is scraping the bottom of the barrel to look for new employees.
