Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs are compound verbs that result from combining a verb with an adverb or a preposition. The resulting compound verb is idiomatic.


Phrasal Verb:
chalk something up (to something) Fig.

Meaning:
to recognize something as the cause of something else.

Example:
We chalked her bad behavior up to her recent illness.
