Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.


Phrasal Verb:
drop away

Meaning / Example:

1. to fall off; to fall away.
> The leaves were still dropping away from the trees in November.

2. [for a group of people] to decline in number over time through disinterest or attrition.
> His friends gradually dropped away as the years passed.
