Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.


Phrasal Verb:
head something up

Meaning / Example:

1. to get something pointed in the right direction. (Especially a herd of cattle or a group of covered wagons.)
> Head those wagons up—we're moving out.

2. to be in charge of something; to be the head of some organization.
> I was asked to head the new committee up for the first year.
