Phrasal Verb


A phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or adverb or both and that functions as a verb whose meaning is different from the combined meanings of the individual words.


Phrasal Verb:
hire someone or something out

Meaning:
to grant someone the use or efforts of someone or something for pay.

Example:
I hired my son out as a lawn-care specialist.
