Phrasal Verb
Phrasal verbs are two or more words that together act as a completely new verb with a meaning separate from those of the original words.
Phrasal Verb:
spade something up
Meaning:
to turn over the soil in a garden plot with a spade.
Example:
Please go out and spade the garden up so I can plant the potatoes and onions.
Phrasal verbs are compound verbs that result from combining a verb with an adverb or a preposition. The resulting compound verb is idiomatic.
