A verb combined with an adverb or a preposition, or sometimes both, to give a new meaning.
Phrasal Verb:
sprawl out
Meaning:
to spread oneself out casually while lounging. (Usually done one time, not habitually.)
Example:
He sprawled out and took up most of the space.
