Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs are compound verbs that result from combining a verb with an adverb or a preposition. The resulting compound verb is idiomatic.


Phrasal Verb:
whip around

Meaning / Example:

1. to reverse suddenly. (As with the tip of a whip.)
> A branch whipped around and tore my shirt.

2. to turn around very quickly and suddenly.
> John whipped around when he heard the noise.
