The Project Management Knowledge Areas
Project management process group classify the processes into nine categories that are called the Project Management Knowledge Area. These groupings, or knowledge areas, bring together processes that have characteristics in common. For example, the Project Cost Management knowledge area involves all aspects of the budgeting process, as you would suspect. Therefore, processes such as Cost Estimating, Cost Budgeting, and Cost Control belong to this knowledge area.
The nine knowledge areas are as follows:
