Exam Pattern
Questions: About 45% of the questions from the PMBOK on the various processes, knowledge areas (inputs, outputs and tools and techniques). Of which approximately 25 % of questions direct and about 20% of questions presented as scenarios but having direct relation to a subject on PMBOK with a straightforward answer.About 30 % of questions, pure case scenarios where the test taker will have to apply the knowledge gained by studying the PMBOK and other sources to arrive at the answer as the question will not be straight forwardAbout 25 % of questions where the answers are not directly found in the PMBOK (especially on the knowledge areas of Procurement (various contract types), Human Resources (styles of leadership, problem solving types etc.) and Communications
The following is the typical expected pattern of the questions:
Initiating Process:
About 4 % of questions were on Initiation : - Need Identification, Feasibility, Product or service description, responsibilities, Charter Statement & Project manager selection
Planning Process:
About 35 % of questions on Planning with the following pattern:� Primary focus can be on Schedule Development, Resource Planning, Risk management Planning, Project plan development, cost estimating and Procurement Planning. Expect a lot of scenario based questions on Resource planning, Procurement Planning� Secondary focus was on Scope Planning, Scope Definition, Activity Definition, Activity Sequencing, Activity Duration, Estimation, Communications Planning, Quality Planning & organizational Planning.
Executing Process:
About 25 % of questions from Executing process with the following pattern: - Primary focus on Project Plan execution, Team development and Contract Administration (these processes constituted about 17 % of the test questions on my exam), Expect a sizeable chunk of scenario based questions on Team development and Contract administration - Secondary focus on Scope verification, Quality assurance and Information distribution
Control Process: About 28% of questions from Controlling process with equal concentration on each of the control process (about 6-9 questions on each control process), Expect quite a number of scenario based questions
Closing Process:
8% of questions on the two closing process |
